Where to Recycle Old Eletronics
As the consequences of high carbon emissions and global warming become more and more apparent, a lot more efforts are being made toward educating people on how to be responsible with regard to the environment. People are starting to focus on important environmental initiatives, such as reducing fuel emissions by driving hybrid cars. Along with these efforts, many companies and industries are starting programs aimed at helping people to be more efficient with their recycling. For example, popular mobile provider O2 now has a recycling initiative aimed at helping people to understand how and why to recycle their old mobile phones. In fact, just about all used electronics can actually be recycled, leading to a great deal of help for the environment.
The fact is, while they seem useless once we progress to more advanced models, our old electronics are actually still worth a lot when it comes to their material makeup. Old electronics – whether we’re talking about mobile phones, computers, etc. – actually contain a number of valuable materials, including a number of plastics and metals. Not only can conserving these materials help reduce the need for additional manufacturing, but it also prevents a great deal of waste. When you consider the vast expansion of electronics industries and the number of products in households worldwide, it certainly makes sense that proper disposal of such materials can make a huge impact.
So – how do you actually go about recycling old electronics? After all, it would seem a bit strange to simply toss an old mobile phone into a recycling bin alongside plastic and glass bottles. Fortunately, along with the efforts to increase awareness about recycling efforts, many different outlets for the actual recycling have emerged. With a quick search you could probably find multiple locations in your hometown that have recycling centres willing to take in your old electronics. Additionally, there are a number of organizations online, such as mygreenelectronics.org and many others like it, that can also help you with proper disposal of your used equipment.
One of the main reasons that a lot of people fail to contribute to recycling efforts is that they simply don’t try hard enough. After all, it’s easy to be wasteful and negligent with recyclable materials – we forget about old mobile phones in our drawers, and we toss plastic bottles into trashcans, often without even meaning to. However, with just a small amount of effort, you can find plenty of ways to donate or recycle your old phones and computers, and the amount of good you will be doing for the environment may be more than you think.
Cinnamon Bark. A Gift from Method
I came back to the office after a long day cleaning last week to find a package I wasn’t expecting from Method. It was clearly a Christmas present so I patiently waited until Christmas day to open it.
